We Welcome You to the Home of the Oasis of the Nine Well's. It is a Major Oasis of the Tahari Region. You have stumbled upon the Hottest Point of Gor.
Surely if You have run out of water You have burnt up gone Mad and died of dehydration.
If You have not then You have come fully stocked to travel the greatest challenge of Gor, the Mighty Tahari.
You will find that the Cultures here are Most different than those of the rest of Gor. What’s that You hear a slave?? You hear bells tinkling upon ankles and chains clanking as Feminine figures walk by. But they are not slaves. They are The Free Women of the Tahari, a single virgin bell upon a available Free Woman's ankles and a walking chain to measure their walking stride is most common in this section of gor. The Tahari's fully believe in a beautiful stride and the chain so enhances that. Free Woman and slaves alike wear them all over. What’s this You see a kajira clad in strange clothing?? It’s but a flimsy vest, a Chalwar (loose fitting pants to the ankle) and a fragile veil. A slave dare not go Outdoors naked she would burn to a crisp.
The Tahari region is located southeast of Ar, below the eastern foothills of the Voltai Mountians. This area is shaped like an enormous, lengthy trapezoid with eastward leaning sides. At the northwest corner of this region is the opulent city of Tor. Further west of Tor, on the Lower FayeenRiver, is the city of Kasra. The desert area in the middle is known as the Wastes or the Emptiness. This area is hundreds, or even thousands, of pasangs wide. It is mostly rocky and hilly except for the dune country area. A hot wind blows nearly constantly there and water is very scarce. There are some oases that are fed from underground rivers, tributaries that flow from the Voltai.
pasangs from each other. They depend heavily on caravans to provide many of their needs. Jungle birds are specially prized as pets. These caravans generally travel the western or distant eastern edges of the Tahari. Within the dune country, as the oases are small and infrequent, little but salt caravans will ply that area. The oasis communities also rely on the caravans to bring exports from themselves. The principal exports of the oases are dates and pressed-date bricks. A date palm may grow up to one hundred feet tall. A date palm takes about ten years before it can bear fruit. A palm will annually yield forty to two hundred pounds of fruit. Date bricks are long and rectangular, weighing about four pounds each. Here are a few of the named oases from the books."
Days upon Days, week after week You have traveled through the blazing desert, passing a scarce Oasis. The heat blistering upon uncovered flesh, sweltering in its 120 to 150 degree taunting. By now one would expect You to be hallucinating or near death. Unless, You have traveled by Caravan or sand kaiila. The only practical means of travel in this Tahari Desert.
Suddenly over the next sand dune You see what seems to be a rising fortress. Can it be, or is it only Your imagination again?
Riding closer You see the guards, mere specks upon the towering walls, looking down at You, a stranger in a dangerous place. Your life forfeit to the heat if You dare bring trouble. The gates slowly open as the guards motion You closer.
" Enter stranger, in peace, or leave in death! "
